Need to borrow money but not sure which app to use? Read our article covering today’s top loan apps including apps for bad credit. We have taken a close look at just about every app on the market to help you find the best loan app.

Best personal loan lenders

PockBox app

With the PockBox.com app, you can borrow up to $2,500 online. You can even apply if your credit score is not great. Loans can be issued quickly, with some customers getting funds into their bank accounts in as little as one business day. PockBox does not act as the lender, instead PockBox connects you to a range of 50 online and offline lenders to find you a great deal.

What PockBox is good for: Pick the PockBox app if your credit history is not great and if you like a straightforward initial application.

LoanSolo app

Like RainyDay, LoanSolo is not a lender but instead connects you with a lending company that can offer you the loan you need at a good rate. LoanSolo offer loans of up to $5,000 and will also consider applicants that have average to poor credit, matching you to a lender that is willing to lend to you.

What LoanSolo is good for: Choose LoanSolo if you need a larger loan and your credit file has a couple of issues.

Avant app

You can get large loans from Avant and can even qualify for low interest rates if your credit history is solid (above 600). Avant is a lender and will issue loans to you directly, but expect approval to take a couple of days. With APRs starting at 9.95% you could bag a great deal on loans of up to $35,000. Avant will also consider you if your credit history is not perfect.

What Avant is good for: Check out Avant if you have a good but not perfect credit score and you need to borrow a larger amount over a long term.

Prosper app

Need a large loan quickly? Consider Prosper, a peer-to-peer lending platform that can issue loans of up to $35,000 with terms as long as 5 years. The lender uses funds from investors just like you to fund loans at attractive rates of as low 5.99% APR. Prosper will only lend to you if you have a good credit score.

What Prosper is good for: Use the Prosper app if you have a very good credit score and you need a large loan spread out over several years.

SoFi app

Also great for large loans, SoFi includes a community aspect too with special events and privileges just for SoFi members. You can get loans up to $100,000 with SoFi but you need to have a very good credit score to qualify for that amount. That said, you can pay as little as 5% APR if you qualify.

What SoFi is good for: Think about SoFi if you have an excellent credit score, want to be part of a community and need a large loan.

Best personal loans for bad credit

As you’ll have noted in the previous section some lenders will only lend to you if you have a credit file in good condition. Applicants with bad credit will be rejected by many mainstream lenders. If your credit record is not great you will need to choose from lenders that are friendly to customers with imperfect credit histories.

We think LoanSolo and RainyDay both offer solid options for people who do not have a great credit score. Both apps will put you in touch with a lender that will consider your circumstances for a loan. However, lenders will perceive applicants with a bad credit score to be high-risk. Expect to be charged a higher interest rate when you get a loan via either of these lenders.

Best student loan apps

Students struggle to borrow because many lenders require a predictable income stream before they will lend money to you. For students with part-time jobs this poses less of a problem, working students can apply for loans just like anyone else.

Other students who are reliant on, say, funds from their parents or maintenance grants will have more limited options when borrowing. However, a payday lender may consider you for a loan even if you have no earnings as a student. Some examples of lenders that will consider students include:

LendUp app

We’ve covered LendUp before, it’s a payday loan option that can help you out if you are in an emergency. LendUp loans are expensive and should not be used for large amounts or more than once in a while.

Advance America

Operating in half of the US states, Advance America can offer both installment loans and payday loans. Students who are not employed may be particularly interested in the payday loans on offer via Advance America.

SpeedyCash

Borrow as little as $100 with SpeedyCash, depending on which state you live in. SpeedyCash will consider you even if you have a bad credit score.
