Credit Convey offers cash advances between $20 up to $200 with no interest, no credit check and no impact on your credit score. As long as you have a smartphone and an active checking account, you can sign up in minutes and see how much you’re eligible for.

If you’re struggling to cover unexpected expenses or just need a little cash boost before payday, Credit Convey offers small “Bridge-a-Gap” cash advances to help you make ends meet.

With a cash advance limit of $200, no late fees and a quick approval process (we were approved in under 7 minutes), there’s plenty to like.

There’s also a few possible drawbacks to be aware of – particularly the $9.99 membership fee which isn’t monthly (like most cash advance apps advertise) but bi-weekly).

Review Takeaways:

  • Lower starting limits Credit Convey offers cash advances up to $200 but you’re more likely to get around $20 as a new user.
  • No credit check: Credit Convey doesn’t require your credit score so you’re not punished if you’ve got a low (or no) score.
  • Potential subscription cost hacks: Credit Convey comes with a pricey bi-weekly fee of $9.99, but you might not have to pay this! (Read on to find out more)

How does the Credit Convey app work?

Credit Convey advertises itself as a “cure for the common cash crunch”.

Available for iPhone or Android, Credit Convey won’t ask for your credit score. The app connects with your bank account using Plaid to analyze what it calls ‘Eligibility Criteria’. These relate to your income deposits and day-to-day transactions.

In our hands-on test, downloading the app, setting up an account and requesting cash can be done in as little as 7 minutes since eligibility decisions are made quickly based on your bank account data.

How much does the Credit Convey app cost?

Credit Convey clearly discloses the monthly subscription fee upfront – which is a welcome change from some of the “murky” pricing of similar cash advance apps.

On the downside, it’s pricey! You’ll need to pay a bi-weekly fee of $9.99 to maintain your subscription and request cash. This fee covers the cost of maintaining a connection with your bank account and comes with extra features including:

  • Income and expenditure alerts
  • Automatic payment rescheduling
  • AI-powered financial wellness insights

There are express fees as well, if you want to receive your advance right away.  Otherwise, you can skip the fee but it may take up to several days to receive your money.

The app will ask for tips, but there’s no need to tip if you don’t want to (and you won’t be punished for keeping your money to yourself).

If approved, you’ll need to wait a couple of days for your funds to land in your account. If you want your cash instantly, there is an express fee although the app won’t disclose this cost until you’re approved for an advance (which is annoying).

🤓 Overdraft Apps Tip: If you’re afraid of commitment and aren’t feeling the expensive $9.99 bi-weekly subscription fee, you can try the app for free with a 3-day trial and cancel before your membership begins. After spending time in the terms and conditions, we discovered you can also get your monthly subscription fee waived by emailing a request to [email protected]

How much can you borrow from Credit Convey?

Cash advances start low (starting at $20) and gradually increase with app usage and consistent subscription payments.

The maximum borrowing limit is $200.

Your Credit Convey membership doesn’t check your credit score. Approval is based on a range of factors linked to your bank account.

Approval factors include:

  • Bank account with existing transaction history
  • At least $750 in monthly income
  • Minimum daily balances
  • Not spending all of your money too quickly after you get paid
  • Not having too many overdrafts

The app will also check out your bank account to make sure you don’t have too many outstanding overdrafts and that you don’t have a habit of spending all your money too quickly after payday.

🤓 Overdraft Apps Tip: Some cash advance apps allow linked bank accounts to request cash advances (like Brigit). Joint bank accounts are not eligible with a Credit Convey membership, so you’ll have to go it alone.

Is Credit Convey legit?

The Credit Convey app averages 4.6 stars from 4,000+ reviews on the App Store and 4.3 stars from 300+ reviews on Google Play.

Positive reviews speak about the straightforward and easy process to borrow money as well as the increasing advance limit.

Negative comments complain about the low cash advance amounts, especially for new users with many only getting $10 or $20 as their initial amount, and the recurring subscription fee.

Commenters also noted that the app won’t let you cancel your subscription if you have an outstanding advance (which has landed apps like Brigit and Floatme in hot water with regulators, so watch this space!).

Is the Credit Convey app worth it?

Credit Convey is a handy way to borrow cash without a credit check as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

Credit Convey ‘s Bridge-a-Gap (BaG) cash advance is designed so that users receive growing cash over time. In theory, the more you use the app, the more you can borrow.

On the downside, the bi-weekly $9.99 fee can add up so you’ll need to be requesting – and being approved for – high limits to get the most value from the app.

If you don’t mind waiting for your money you can skip the express fee, which helps bring your costs down (the same goes for not tipping, but that’s up to you). But with low advance amounts for new users and high costs, there’s better value to be found in other cash advance apps.
