Updated August 2026.

Upstart Cash Line does something almost no competitor will put in writing: if you qualify, each draw is guaranteed to be at least $200. In a category famous for $20 starter offers, that floor alone changes who should bother applying.
Upstart Cash Line just entered the market with a fundamentally different promise: every approved user gets a minimum of $200, and once you’re in, your limit only goes up,never down. Those two commitments alone set it apart from virtually every other app in this space.
Upstart is the most established financial company to enter the cash advance space yet. Here’s a complete breakdown of how Cash Line works, what it costs, and the important questions that are still unanswered for this brand-new product.
What Is Upstart?
Before getting into Cash Line specifically, it’s worth understanding who’s behind it,because Upstart isn’t a startup chasing hype.
Founded in 2012, Upstart is a publicly traded company (NASDAQ: UPST) with a $3 billion market cap and over 4 million borrowers across its personal loan, auto refinancing, and home equity products. They’ve been doing AI-powered lending for over a decade.
Their founding mission was to fix something broken in traditional lending. Upstart’s own research shows that 4 in 5 Americans have never defaulted on a loan, yet less than half can access prime credit. The problem isn’t that those people are bad borrowers. The problem is that traditional credit scoring does a poor job of identifying who’s actually responsible with money.
Upstart built its AI to look far beyond credit scores, considering hundreds of additional data points to build a more accurate picture of creditworthiness. The result is a platform that approves more people at better rates than traditional models. Cash Line brings that same philosophy to short-term credit access.
How Upstart Cash Line Works

Cash Line is a personal credit line you can draw from whenever you need it,no reapplying each time, no waiting for a new approval cycle tied to your paycheck.
You apply once. If approved, you have 24/7 access to your credit line and can request funds in $50 increments,so $50, $100, $150, $200, and so on, up to your available limit. You can only have one draw active at a time, meaning you repay your current draw in full before requesting another.
On repayment: Cash Line uses a manual repayment model, which is actually less common than you might think. Rather than automatically pulling payments from your account, you initiate repayments yourself through the app. For many users this is a relief,no surprise withdrawals wiping out your balance the day after payday. The trade-off is that you’re responsible for staying on top of it. Miss your repayment and you won’t be able to take another draw until the balance is cleared. What happens to your account if you’re consistently late is still unclear for this new product, something to watch as early user experiences accumulate.
One important distinction: while draw repayments are manual, your $10 monthly subscription fee is automatically charged. Budget for that $10 coming out each month whether you draw or not. The one exception: if you open an account and don’t take a draw during your first billing cycle, that initial $10 is refunded.
What makes Cash Line genuinely different is the limit commitment. Once you’re approved, your credit limit never decreases. That’s a direct answer to one of the most common complaints about cash advance apps: limits mysteriously dropping, often right when you actually need the money.
Upstart Cash Line Pricing
Cash Line’s pricing is refreshingly simple.
The base cost is a flat $10 per month for credit lines up to $500. No tips. No surprise fees. And unlike virtually every other cash advance app, there are no express delivery fees. Instant transfers are included at no extra cost. Most apps charge $3 to $10 every single time you want your money quickly. Over the course of a year, that adds up fast.
For draws above $500, a low APR kicks in,ranging from 5% to 36%,making Cash Line function more like a traditional personal line of credit for larger amounts. Most users borrowing for everyday expenses will stay comfortably under $500, where the flat monthly fee is the only cost.
For context, Brigit charges $9.99 to $14.99 per month plus express delivery fees on top. Cash Line’s all-in $10 with no delivery surcharge is genuinely competitive.
The $200 Minimum,And Why It Matters
The guaranteed $200 minimum for all approved users is the most meaningful differentiator Cash Line brings to market.
To understand why, look at what most apps actually deliver to new users in practice:
- Brigit starts many new users around $50
- Cleo first-timers are often stuck at $20 to $70
- Grant had an average starting amount of just $69 for new users
- Many apps advertise high limits but deliver far less, the FTC took action against Dave in part because of the gap between advertised and actual advance amounts
Cash Line doesn’t play that game. Every approved user starts at a minimum of $200, with the potential to access up to $5,000,more than five times what any other app on our list offers as a maximum.
What We Don’t Know Yet
Cash Line is a brand-new product, and there are legitimate open questions.
Who actually gets approved? Upstart’s AI is designed to say yes to people traditional lenders reject, but we don’t yet know what Cash Line’s specific approval criteria look like. High minimums only matter if you can get approved in the first place. Early user data over the coming months will tell us a lot about how accessible this product actually is.
Unlike most cash advance apps, Upstart DOES perform a credit check when you apply. It is a soft credit pull, which won’t impact your credit score. We don’t know what the minimum score needed to qualify is.
What’s the early user experience? Cash Line has no dedicated user reviews yet,it’s too new. The Upstart app carries an impressive 4.9-star rating with over 28,000 ratings on the App Store, but those reflect the company’s personal loan product, not Cash Line specifically. We’ll be watching Reddit and app store reviews closely as real users start sharing their experiences.
Limitations to Know Before You Download
Is Upstart Cash Line available in every state?
No. Cash Line is not available in CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, IA, LA, ME, MD, MA, NV, NH, NM, NY, TN, VT, WA, WV, or WI. Other states may qualify. Confirm availability in the app.
Cash Line is promising, but it comes with real constraints worth knowing upfront.
iOS only for now. Android users can join the waitlist, but there’s no Android app yet. Not available in all states. Cash Line is currently unavailable in a significant number of states, including major ones like New York and Illinois. Check the waitlist page to confirm availability in your state before getting too excited.
Currently in beta. Access is limited right now, with a broader rollout expected later in 2026. Joining the waitlist gets you in line for early access.
One draw at a time. If you need more cash mid-cycle and your current draw isn’t repaid, you’ll need to wait. For people who might need to borrow multiple times in a short window, this is a real limitation.
Our Verdict
Upstart Cash Line has the right ingredients to become one of the better cash advance products on the market. The $200 guaranteed minimum is the highest starting floor we’ve seen anywhere. The never-drops-your-limit commitment directly addresses one of the most frustrating pain points in this space. And flat $10/month pricing with no express fees is a clean, honest structure that holds up well against the competition.
The open question is approval accessibility. Upstart’s track record with personal loans suggests they’re genuinely trying to approve more people than traditional lenders would. If Cash Line delivers on that same promise, it could stand out not just on pricing and features, but on who can actually use it.
If you have an iPhone and live in a supported state, it’s worth joining the beta waitlist now. If you’re on Android or in an unsupported state, add yourself to the waitlist and check back as the product expands,we’ll be updating this review as real user data comes in.

Is Upstart legit and safe?
Quick Answer: Yes. Upstart is a real, licensed company (NMLS 936133). Cash Line is a small revolving line in the Upstart iOS app, not an Upstart installment loan.
Cash Line costs $10 a month. You can draw up to $500. Once you are approved, the smallest draw is $200.
Instant deposit to a linked bank is free if that bank supports it. Only one draw can be open at a time.
This product is iOS only. Do not mix it up with Upstart’s personal loans.

How to cancel Upstart
- Open the Upstart app and look in Account or Settings for Cash Line or membership.
- You can also cancel the $10 plan in your Apple subscription list (iPhone Settings, then Subscriptions).
- If you have an unpaid draw, repay it first. Upstart allows one open draw at a time.
- If you cannot find a cancel path, contact Upstart support from the app and ask to cancel Cash Line.
- Confirm the $10 charge is stopped. Then uninstall the app if you want.
Important: Deleting the app from your phone does not cancel your account or stop billing.
Need more than a few hundred dollars?
- Bigger loans, not tiny advances. Cash advance apps top out fast — PockBox helps you search personal loan offers that often start above $500.
- Any credit score welcome. Compare options from lenders that work with excellent, fair, and poor credit (approval and terms always depend on the lender).
- Free to shop around. Checking rates does not lock you into a loan — compare side by side, then decide.
